Welcome to the Waterman Life Cross for 1/4/17.The Life Cross is a scatterpoint chart that examines a set of chosen companies, and ranks them in a comparative fashion. It can help you know when to buy or sell stocks in your portfolio. Today we are examining the Retail sector. As of market close 1/4/2017, the Life Cross predicts that GNC Holdings (GNC) has the best combination of price and value for investors. Please note, this is a potential pitfall of this particular screening method, which is that it can give false flags for value traps: GNC Holdings just finished a major restructuring at their retail stores, putting new lower prices in place at all of them. That creates a potential problem of reduced cash flow, and could affect dividend payments. Guess (GES), and Gamestop (GME) are also compelling choices to buy.The Life Cross further recommends strongly selling Fred's Inc (FRED), as well as a sell recommendation on Mercadolibre (MELI).More about the Waterman Life Cross:The Life Cross compares the relative yield and P/E ratios of a proprietary list of 132 different companies. S&P Retail Select Industry Index, MVIS US Listed Retail 25 Index, Dynamic Retail Intellidex Index, and the EQM Online Retail Index. The Life Cross takes just two factors into consideration: The current dividend yield, and the forward P/E ratio based on analyst estimates. When the chart is drawn, tickers toward the bottom right represent better deals for investors, all else equal. Always do your own due dillegence. The chart is not magical, and while it cannot guarantee future performance, the chart can give you a good point to begin your research from. It might also introduce you to a company you're unfamiliar with as an investment idea. The chart data can change quickly and dynamically. If you're seeing this posting on Thursday, January the 5th 2017, then you're definitely golden. Trades within a few days of creating these charts are probably ok, but I recommend becoming a follower and checking for regular updates. I plan to analyze at least one major index at the end of each market day. If you spot any errors, or have questions please don't hesitate to leave your comments below.
