I can't believe people are falling for this again. We just freaking got done with the last one of these Ponzi schemes. Yes. Scheme. You read that right. This guy is no hero. The money that his old partners came after him for was from losing 99% of their money daytrading and short-selling stocks. He is a gambler with his clients money, and a self-serving demon that the government was right to stop. Defending the uninsured by saying that he will provide them with medications for $1, but every other insured patient will pay $750? That's not a "Robin Hood" act, as he states. It is a requirement now that every american have health insurance, so by refusing to have it, the people getting these $1 pills are in effect breaking the law. But here's a newsflash for you. Very few people are actually breaking the law. Because they're not idiots. You are perhaps familiar with "Obamacare"? Maybe Healthcare.gov? These are the resources that enable every American to have access to health insurance now. And if you actually are foolish enough to not have healthcare insurance, then getting just this one medication for $1 is equally stupid, because every other medication you require could end up costing you a fortune. Since the majority of humans are not stupid, they are taking the insurance. So Shkreli, by incentivizing this scheme, is not a hero. He is defrauding the people who are doing the right thing by carrying insurance. Generic drug companies like Teva (TEVA) are doing what a generic drug maker should be doing, which is working hard to lower the cost for EVERYONE. The people cheating the system are placing the financial burden on the backs of every other person who is doing the right thing. And if this behavior becomes a trend in brand drugmakers such as Pfizer (PFE), Eli Lilly (LLY), or Merck (MRK), Then every single person in this country will end up paying more for every drug, regardless of coverage. Martin Shkreli is an inflation-causing psychopath. Not a hero.
