Man I'm tired of this style of games. This looks like crap. The screenshot is taken from a new release on Valve's Steam service called "Papers Please". This game came up when I started viewing my suggestion queue. Lately. every time I log onto Steam, and I look for suggestions on new games to buy, one of these stupid looking 8-bit or 16-bit graphics inspired things comes up at least once, and usually more than that. Game makers, pay attention. You are going to put yourself out of business doing this. It was novel with something like "Cave Story". When that game hit the Nintendo Wii (NTDOY), it was great how they took that retro style and applied it to modern hardware. It was a cool combination of low-res graphics but more sprite action than any old school console had the ability to actually process. But it started getting old after hundreds of games were trying to imitate this style. Look, here's the thing, I have a $200 Nvidea (NVDA) GTX 660 graphics card, and an 8-core AMD (AMD) CPU under the hood of my computer. I have been thinking about putting the cash out on a GTX 970 or better graphics card, but when games aren't pushing the limits of my hardware, what's the point? Even Rockstar's (TTWO) Grand Theft Auto V runs decently on what I have now. That's bull. When I have the option of spending more on graphics, I should be rewarded for that performance, not limited. As of right now, there is absolutely nothing on the Steam store that warrants the purchase of a high end graphics card. This is why Sony's (SNE) PS4 is making progress against Steam. The year is 2016. My NES could make graphics that compete with the image above 30 years ago!! That era is over, I want games that make my graphics card and CPU run hot, smoke even. Intel (INTC), Microsoft (MSFT), stop punishing me for having cash to blow, and show me that there's something worth blowing it on. PC Users are supposed to be the master race, aren't we? Well I already have an NES, and I'd rather play "Super Mario Bros.", quite frankly. Apple (AAPL), you've been wanting to break into set top games, do you think you could get in here with something less archaic maybe?
